Nuthatch Artistry - Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday - Nuthatch Artistry

Well hello again Islanders!

It's Saturday and you know what that means, another round of Small Business Saturday shout outs! This week we bring you the immensely talented Heather, over at Nuthatch Artistry based out of Petawawa, Ontario.

Heather is one of my earliest Instagram pals when I first started into my own business.  I have really admired her watercolours and ink drawings for a long time.  I would have to say my favourite is her botanical bee inkdrawing (available on her Etsy).  In fact, some of you Islanders may already be familiar with her as we have her art work hanging in our studio.

Heather has recently created a seasonal art box. You can expect one of a kind prints of her work and a seasonal card depicting her artwork. Each carefully thought out box will have works for each season.  Check out her socials below for more information on how to get your hands on one of these.

We hope you enjoy getting to know Heather as much as we did.

1) Tell us a little bit about your small business?

I am the sole artist running Nuthatch Artistry. I sell high quality prints of my original artwork as well as the original pieces themselves. I work in watercolours and ink. I am often inspired by nature, botanicals, Canadian landscapes and any beauty that surrounds me in day to day life.

2) What is your favourite thing about your small business?

One of my favourite things about running a small business is meeting other small business owners and seeing how we all manage a healthy work/home life balance.

3) What is your small business’s origin story?

Since being home with my three young children and navigating military life as a spouse to a member, I decided to use my degree in Fine Arts and start selling my artwork. It has been such a wonderful journey that I am looking forward to expanding on.

4) What are your best selling products?

My botanical prints as well as my Canadian inspired prints sell very well.

5) Why should people focus on buying small and local if possible?

When you buy small and local, this truly impacts the makers in a positive way. Every dollar makes a difference to us and goes to us. I personally try to support as many local businesses as I can (and there are so many great ones in the Ottawa Valley!!).

Heather is absolutely amazing! She was so accommodating in doing a custom piece for me and worked with me closely to design my dream logo!

Definitely recommend her art!
